The recovery continues. . oh, the economic one as well, but the hosts has most of his faculties after a week of upper respiratory yuck. Coughing and hacking aside, we jumped right into the Olympic coverage. There was a lot to see and even the white, hot curling competition can be captivating and the mesmerizing pace of speed skating and/or the skiathlon are riveting. Watching the 38-second behind to 8-second victory by Norway’s Hegstad Krueger was amazing and a great story that will stand the test of time. A lot of it is amazing, but what is NOT is the media’s ludicrous coverage of Kim Yong Un’s sister. From the Washington Post to the New York Times, accolades about her presence being magnificent ignore the fact that she IS the Minister of Propaganda for a murderous regime that kills millions of innocent folks! Shameful is being nice in describing the US media’s insistence that she is anything but an accomplice. Special thanks for Nick Craig for his appearance on the show today as he covered it on his show last night on Wilmington’s Big Talker FM 106.7. We transitioned from one bit of news done in poor taste to another. WRAL parent company Capitol Broadcasting runs liberal opinion pieces and cartoons all the time. But now, they’ve stooped to a new low. Channeling their best sexism, bullying, physical assault and hypocritical support they etched a cartoon featuring a whimpy Roy Cooper hanging with a curvy, bikini clad blonde getting pushed around by a fat Baywatch clad Trump on the beach over offshore drilling. Cooper then works out becomes a macho stud, stands up against offshore drilling and ASSAULTS the president, knocking him out to win the sexy blonde. It’s just poor taste, sad, pathetic and childish, but nothing new for Capital. . what a shame! the cartoon is on our FB page, I don’t want to help them out by putting the link here.
Moving along we did get into our continued coverage of day 14 of the Gov’s absence from answering questions about the $57.8m slush fund. His new guy Lilley, in the NCGA grilling last week indicate the fun was “voluntary” but this hasn’t been corroborated by Duke or Dominion and it doesn’t look voluntary in the MOU with the Gov. Cooper has yet to answer ANY questions about the deal choosing instead to HIDE behind staff. We’ll keep tracking it, but it looks VERY bad. He’s still polling a potential solution but even democrat consultants like Brad Crone, who appeared on TV with yours truly agrees that it stinks! We went on to cover a bizarre coin toss story in the Olympics where a white female ended up representing the US at the opening ceremony over a black male athlete, Shani Davis. The entire dust up only made the assertion of racism against ANYONE less meaningful. John Fund has a good write up over at National Review that we examined in our second hour. Covering the spectrum of science, the folks at the Univ. of Texas, Austin have apparently discovered a way to extract lithium and desalinate water using a fairly efficient and economic system. That being said, it would mean that fracking water could become the source for lithium used in electric cars and cell phones not to mention cleaning water. WHEN that happens what will the anti-frackers do. . clean natural gas, clean water, lithium without having to mine for it? Egads!!! Once again, the environmental movement isn’t concerned about the environment, they are concerned about power and money. And finally our high praise for capitalism takes us to the Reason Blog for some humor. In true form Reason points out that capitalism is alive and well in Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Edition as women go sans clothing on behalf of the #metoo movement. LOL, where else in the world would that happen?
They also hail a creative girl scout who sold 300 boxes of cookies outside of a pot dispensary in San Diego. Well done, creative and really helping that particular girl scout troop!
Finally, a tribute to Jimmy Buffett! If ever there was proof that capitalism works, you have a guy who writes average music, invests in bars, and broadway shows and ends up being worth way over $500m. Way to go Jimmy!!! I think I’ll have another drink on that one! (http://reason.com/blog/2018/02/08/3-cheers-for-capitalism-metoo-swimsuits?utm_medium=email#comment)
Cooper’s silence continues!
