We opened the show with stories coming out of Texas. We have seen the horrific effects of Harvey, but also the resilience of the people in Texas. These so called “deplorables” have come together and demonstrated to the country party politics is not the most important thing.
Col. Francis Deluca joined us on the show to discuss Civitas’s latest poll breakfast. Unaffiliated voters are growing while Democrats are losing ground. We discussed the results of the poll and where the state is moving in regards to party politics.
Several stories have fallen away in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. The Russians and Confederate states have disappeared.
We end the show discussing the next hurdle Trump is tackling, tax reform. The jury is still out on who has “won” the Obamacare debate, but the Republicans and President seem to be moving on. If Republicans want to reduce deficits, tax reform will not be enough. The country has a spending problem and that needs to be addressed.
We also went through a piece on the low-fat diet, which has been encouraged by federal departments for several years. It seems those who have a higher fat intake live longer, and have healthier hearts…so much for “approved science.”
