Today on the show we spoke with Lt. Governor Dan Forest to start things off.
Dr. Terry Stoops joined us on the program to discuss the power struggle taking place between the Superintendent of Public Instruction and the State Board of Education. The legislature has sided with Superintendent Mark Johnson and has given him a budget to hire staffers. The dispute was brought to a three-judge panel, which can rule at any time.
We also address the school choice debate. We looked at the accomplishments of charter schools across the state, accomplishments which seem to fall away in the debate. Dropping scores in readings and math might drive others to look at charter schools as a viable alternative to public schools.
We discussed the Donald Trump Jr. email incident with the Russians. The issue is being blown way out of proportion. We played audio of Sen Tim Kaine’s comments regarding the email. Kaine admits there is no proof for the claims, yet says Jr. may have committed treason.
We discussed leftist terms used to avoid actually dialogue on policies. Democrats have started to refer to their party as the Resistance, a term used by the French who stood against Nazi occupation of France. Democrats see themselves as the modern-day “freedom fighters.” They refer to those who don’t buy the climate change claims as “deniers.” Another Nazi reference, “deniers” are those who believe the Holocaust never occurred.
