We started the show with the insanity of the Republican Party. Since 2010 Republicans have run on repealing Obamacare. Slowly over time it became “repeal and replace.” Despite the democrat’s mudslinging, the danger the Republicans face is not to pass a repeal and replace, but to not make good on their promise.
We went through a piece from The News and Observer on Sen. Thom Tillis’ approval rating. Right now Senator Tillis is tied for last in the country for lowest approval rating. An Elon University poll found Tillis to have a 29% approval rating. His campaign manager and staffers are not concerned about the numbers.
NC is a moderate state. The two liberal senators we have had in recent history were replaced. Both Senator Tillis and Burr have an opportunity to be a part of significant change in DC but they are choosing to be mainstream and moderate.
We also discussed the changes we may see in the state districts for the next election cycle. With the shifting of distracting and the lack of change by Republicans in DC, it will be interesting to see what happens in 2018.
